The Uses of Art is about new ways of seeing.

I am an artist, poet, teacher, and senior Zen student. To me, art is where we can practice our deep engagement with the world.

Subscribe to travel with me into museums, galleries, and studios and explore different ways of giving deep attention to works of art and to the world around us. You will receive weekly dispatches from the inner space of art.

You’ll also find prose poems, wild language, and oracular writing.

This letter offers free and paid options.

  • Both free and paid subscribers receive weekly stories of transformative encounters with art and prompts for new ways of seeing.

  • Paid subscribers receive vibrations of glee and gratitude through the ether. Your support and encouragement mean everything to me.

Another way to support my work is to order a copy of my book—also called The Uses of Art (more below).

I look forward to getting to know you!

— Sal
